Question
The average of 30 numbers is 60. The average of first 16 numbers is 64 and that of the last 16 numbers is 56. If 15th number and 16th numbers are excluded, then what is the average of the remaining numbers?
Solution
Sum of 30 numbers = 30 Γ 60 = 1800 Sum of 15th and 16th number = 64 Γ 16 + 56 Γ 16 β 1800
= 120 Γ 16 β 1800
= 1920 β 1800
= 120 Desired average = (1800 β 120)/(30 β 2) = 60
