Total people = 700 × 2 = 1400 Total adults = 1400 – 680 = 720 Adult men = 0.65a Adult women = 0.35b Equation (1): 0.65a + 0.35b = 720 Children = 0.35a + 0.65b = 680 → Equation (2): 0.35a + 0.65b = 680 Solving both: We get a = 800, b = 600 Male children = 0.35 × 800 = 280 Female adults = 0.35 × 600 = 210 Average = (280 + 210)/2 = 245
