B 42 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 49 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 55 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

Let the age of 'S' 5 years ago be 3x years.

Let the age of 'T' 5 years hence be 5x years.

    So, the present age of 'S' = (3x + 5) years

    So, the present age of 'T' = (5x - 5) years

    So, the sum of the present age of 'S' and 'T' = 40 × 2 = 80 years

    So, 3x + 5 + 5x - 5 = 80

    So, 8x = 80

    So, x = 10

    So, present age of 'T' = 5x - 5 = 50 - 5 = 45 years

    So, the age of 'T' 10 years hence from now = 45 + 10 = 55 years
