    The average weight of 4 persons is 35 kg. The heaviest

    person’s weight is 24 kg more than the lightest person’s weight. If the average weight of the rest two persons is 44 kg, then find the weight of the heaviest person.

    Solution

    The sum of the weight of 4 persons = 35 × 4 = 140 kg Let the weight of the lightest person = ‘x’ kg The weight of the heaviest person = (x + 24) kg The sum of the weight of the remaining two persons = 44 × 2 = 88 kg According to the question, x + x + 24 + 88 = 140 2x = 28 x = 14 The weight of the heaviest person = 14 + 24 = 38 kg
