    400 workers – Average wages is 250 Total wages = 400 × 250 = 1,00,000 Correct read = 160 + 440 = 600 Misread = 260 + 140 = 400 +Rs. 200 is the difference between correct salary and misread salary. So we will add this in 100000 and then divided by 400 and then find average wages Required Average = 100200/400  = 250.50
