    Solution

    Let the smaller number be 4x.
    Greater = 1.25 × 4x = 5x.
    ATQ, 4x + 3 = (4x + 5x) / 2
    ⇒ 4x + 3 = 9x / 2
    ⇒ 8x + 6 = 9x
    ⇒ x = 6
    Sum = 9x = 9 × 6 = 54.
