Question
The average of two numbers is 2 more than the smaller
number among them. If the greater number is 20% more than the smaller number, then find the sum of the two numbers.Solution
Let the smaller number be 5x.
Greater = 1.2 × 5x = 6x.
ATQ, 5x + 2 = (5x + 6x) / 2
⇒ 10x + 4 = 11x
⇒ x = 4
Sum = 11x = 11 × 4 = 44.
