₹48,000. One employee earning ₹45,000 resigns, and 4 new employees with an average salary of ₹50,000 join. When the manager’s salary is also included, the average salary becomes ₹49,000. What is the salary of the manager?Solution
Initial total salary = 35 × 48000 = ₹16,80,000
The sum of salaries of 4 new employees = 4 × 50000 = ₹2,00,000 Let the salary of the manager be ‘y’ rupees.
New total salary without manager = 1680000 - 45000 + 200000 + y = (18,35,000 + y)
New total number of people = 35 - 1 + 4 + 1 = 39
New total salary = 39 × 49000 = ₹19,11,000
So, manager’s salary = 1911000 - 1835000 = ₹76,000
