Question
If x : y : z = 4 : 7 : 9, and (2x + 3z) = 140, then find the value of 2y.
Solution
Let x = ‘4a’ So, y = 4a × (7/4) = ‘7a’ And z = 4a × (9/4) = ‘9a’ ATQ; 4a × 2 + 9a × 3 = 140 Or, 8a + 27a = 140 So, 35a = 140 So, a = 4 So, required value = 2 × 7a = 56
