If x : y : z = 4 : 5 : 9, and (3x + 2z) = 120, then find the value of 3y.
Solution
Let x = ‘4a’ So, y = 4a × (5/4) = ‘5a’ And z = 4a × (9/4) = ‘9a’ ATQ; 4a × 3 + 9a × 2 = 120 Or, 12a + 18a = 120 So, 30a = 120 So, a = 4 So, required value = 3 × 5a = 60
