The present age of Mohit is two times more than that of Rohit. 6 years hence from now, the age of Mohit will be twice the age of Sumit at that time. If Rohit is 6 years younger than Sumit, then find the present age of Mohit.

Let the present age of Rohit be ‘x’ years Therefore, present age of Mohit = x + 2x = ‘3x’ years Let, present age of Sumit be ‘y’ years Given, y – x = 6 Or, x = y – 6 Also, (3x + 6) = 2 × (y + 6) Or, 3 × (y – 6) + 6 = 2y + 12 Or, 3y – 18 + 6 = 2y + 12 Or, y = 24 Therefore, x = y – 6 = 18 Therefore, present age of Mohit = 3x = 3 × 18 = 54 years
