Let the present ages of P and R be 7x and 5x years.
Sum of the present ages = 80 − 8 = 72 years
ATQ,
(7x + 5x) = 72
12x = 72
So, x = 6
So, difference between their present ages = (7x − 5x) = 2x = 12 years
