Let present age of Riya, Meera and Nita be R, M and N years, respectively. Then, R = M + 5, and M = N – 2 Also, (R + 3)/(M – 1) = 8/5 (M + 5 + 3)/(M – 1) = 8/5 (M + 8)/(M – 1) = 8/5 5M + 40 = 8M – 8 48 = 3M M = 16 N = M + 2 = 16 + 2 = 18 So, Nita’s age 5 years ago = 18 – 5 = 13 years
