Question
Four years later, the total of the ages of 'John' and
'Michael' will be 70 years. Ten years ago, John was 8 years younger than Michael. What will be Michael's age six years from now?Solution
ATQ,
Let the present ages of 'John' and 'Michael' be 'p' and 'q' years respectively.
So, p + 4 + q + 4 = 70
Or, p + q = 62 --------- (I)
And, p - 10 = q - 10 - 8
Or, 'p' = q - 8 ---------- (II)
From equation I and II,
We get, q - 8 + q = 62
Or, 2q = 70
Or, 'q' = 35
Therefore, required age of 'Michael' = 35 + 6 = 41 years
