      Question

The respective ratio of the present ages of A and B is

2:3. The present age of C is 20% more than that of B. The sum of the present ages of A, B and C is 43 years. What will be the ratio of the ages of A and B after 10 years?
A 3:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 2:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 4:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 1:2 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let the present ages of A and B be 2x years and 3x years, respectively. Therefore, present age of C = 1.20 × 3 = 3.6x years According to the question, 2x + 3x + 3.6x = 43 8.6x = 43 Or, x = 43/8.6 = 5 Therefore, required ratio = (2x + 10):(3x + 10) = 20:25 = 4:5
