Question

Present age of ‘A’ is 50% more than that of ‘B’.

If 12 years hence from now, ‘B’ will be 11 years younger than ‘A’, then find the sum of present ages of ‘A’ and ‘B’.
A 54 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 50 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 55 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 52 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let present age of ‘B’ be ‘x’ years Present age of ‘A’ = x × 1.50 = ‘1.50x’ years ATQ; (x + 12) + 11 = (1.50x + 12) Or, x + 23 = 1.50x + 12 Or, 11 = 0.50x Or, x = 22 So, present age of ‘B’ = 22 years And, present age of ‘A’ = 22 + 11 = 33 years Required sum = 22 + 33 = 55 years
