    Solution

    Let C’s present age be x years. So, A’s present age = (x + 5) years And B’s present age = (x + 5 + 3) = (x + 8) years According to question, => x + 5 + x = 23 => 2x = 18 => x = 9 Required total sum = x + (x + 5) + (x + 8) = 3x + 13 = 40 years
