    Let the present age of A and B be 4x and 5x respectively. According to question, => 2(4x – 12) = (5x – 12) => 8x – 24 = 5x – 12 => 3x = 12 => x = 4 Present age of A = 4x = 16 yrs And present age of B = 5x = 20 yrs The sum of their present ages = 16 + 20 = 36 years
