He defeated reigning champion Ding Liren of China, scoring 7.5 points to 6.5 in the 14-game series. Gukesh became the youngest-ever World Chess Champion, surpassing Garry Kasparov, who held the title at 22. He is also the second Indian to achieve this milestone after Viswanathan Anand.
