Question
There are 80 students in a school team, where the number of
girls is 16 more than the number of boys. If 50 more students join the team, out of which 60% are girls, then what will be the new ratio of girls to boys in the team?Solution
ATQ,
Let the number of boys in the team be x
So, number of girls in the team = x + 16
So, x + x + 16 = 80
Or, 2x = 64
So, x = 32
So, number of boys in the team = 32
And number of girls in the team = 32 + 16 = 48
And number of girls added to the team = 50 × 60% = 30
And number of boys added to the team = 50 - 30 = 20
So, required ratio = (48 + 30) : (32 + 20) = 78 : 52 = 39 : 26
