SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

The SBI Clerk Prelims exam is 1 hour long and has 100 marks. The SBI Clerk Prelims has three sections. Section 1 is English Language. It has 30 questions for 30 marks and 20 minutes. 

Section 2 is Numerical Ability. It has 35 questions for 35 marks and 20 minutes. Section 3 is Reasoning Ability. It has 35 questions for 35 marks and 20 minutes. 

There is negative marking in SBI Clerk Prelims. One wrong answer costs 0.25 mark. There is no minimum SBI Clerk Prelims mark for any section or for the total score.

Note: No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for each section OR for the aggregate score.

SBI Clerk Prelims Syllabus 2025

The SBI Clerk Prelims 2025 exam will consist of 100 questions for a total of 100 marks. The SBI Clerk 2025 Exam Syllabus is divided into three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.

General English has 40 questions, 40 marks, 35 minutes. Quantitative Aptitude has 50 questions, 50 marks, 45 minutes. Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude has 50 questions, 60 marks, 45 minutes. 

There is negative marking in the SBI Clerk Mains exam. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 mark.

Note: There is no sectional cut-off in the SBI Clerk exam 2025.

SBI Clerk Mains Syllabus 2025

The SBI Clerk Mains syllabus 2025 consists of four subjects in the objective type format. The subjects assessed are:

• General Awareness

The SBI Clerk Mains 2025 will consist of 190 questions for a total of 200 marks. You will be given multiple answer choices, and you must choose the correct one.

Language Proficiency Test

LPT has two tests. First is Non-Verbal Test. It has an objective part with 3 passages, 15 questions and 15 marks, and a subjective part with 3 passages, 15 questions and 15 marks.

Second is Verbal Test. It has 20 questions for 20 marks. You must get the score SBI sets to pass. You will take the SBI Clerk LPT after the SBI Clerk Main exam but before you join SBI Clerk. If you fail this test, you will not get the job.

If your 10th or 12th mark sheet shows you studied the chosen local language, you do not need to take LPT

Final Selection

Final selection for SBI Clerk 2025 is based only on your Main exam score. Prelims marks will not count for the final merit list. SBI Clerk will rank candidates by their aggregate Main exam marks.

Next, SBI Clerk will verify your eligibility and the details in your online application. If you must take the Language Proficiency Test, you need to pass it before joining SBI Clerk.

Reserved List

SBI Clerk will keep a wait list of up to 50% of vacancies. This list is state- and category-wise. It stays valid for one year from the final result date. SBI Clerk will use this list each quarter if some selected candidates do not join or if they resign.

Marking Scheme

The SBI Clerk exam has negative marking. For each wrong answer in Prelims, 0.25 marks are cut. The same 0.25-mark penalty applies in Mains. There is no minimum score per section. Knowing the SBI Clerk marking scheme helps you plan answers and avoid losing marks.
