The State Bank of India organizes the SBI Clerk Exam to appoint Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) in its diverse branches nationwide. The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the SBI Clerk Notification 2026 for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre.

The notification announces 7,680 regular vacancies across various States and Union Territories. The online application process will be open from August 11, 2026 to August 31, 2026, and candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT. Candidates can apply for only one State/UT and must be proficient in the specified local language of the selected State or Union Territory. There is no provision for inter-state or inter-circle transfer after appointment, except in limited cases specified by the Bank.

What are the details about the SBI Clerk Vacancy?

The SBI Clerk Vacancy 2026 has been announced through the official notification for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales). This year, the State Bank of India has announced 7,680 regular vacancies across various States and Union Territories, along with 1,444 backlog vacancies distributed across different States/UTs. This makes the total vacancies for this year to be 9124.

The backlog vacancies are primarily for the SC, ST and OBC categories and are net of the vacancies advertised under the Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory and must be proficient in the specified local language of the selected State/UT. Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or 12 have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) . They can do so after qualifying the Main Examination and candidates who fail to qualify this test will not be offered appointment.

Candidates selected as Junior Associates will be placed in the State/UT for which they have applied, and the merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise. There is no provision for Inter-Circle or Inter-State Transfer for Junior Associates before completion of five years of service.

After five years, transfer requests may be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as extreme compassionate or spouse grounds, at SBI's discretion and as per the prevailing transfer policy.

The SBI Clerk selection process consists of the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and the Local Language Proficiency Test (where applicable). Final selection is based solely on the marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria and qualifying the local language test.

How do I Apply Online for SBI Clerk? 

The SBI Clerk Notification is on SBI's official website. However, before applying for the exam, you must make sure you meet the necessary qualifications.

To do this, check the SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria to ensure you can apply. To assist you with the SBI Clerk application process, here is the step-by-step procedure to apply. 

• Only online mode of application is accepted. 
• Visit the official website and click ‘Recruitment of Junior Associates’. 
• Fill in all the essential details like Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email Id, and other details, and save the details. When the data is saved, a provisional registration number and password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. You should note down the registration number and password. 
• After registration, login again to enter all further details as asked using your password and registration number. 
• Enter all other details to complete the application form. 
• Scan and upload your photograph, signature, thumb impression, and hand declaration as specified below- 

Guidelines for Uploading the Photograph 

• Dimensions: 200 X 230 pixels 
• The photograph must be clear and passport-size 
• The file size of the photograph should be between 20KB - 50 KB 
• Format: JPG/JPEG 
• The preferred background is White 

Guidelines for Uploading the Signature 

• The signature should be clear and legible 
• Dimensions: 140 X 160 pixels 
• The file size of the signature should be between 10KB and 20KB. The application will be rejected if it is below or exceeds the mentioned limit. 
• The signature should be done with a running hand on a white background 

Left thumb impression: 

• The applicant has to put his left thumb impression on white paper with black or blue ink. 
• The handwritten declaration should be of the applicant and not by any other person. 
• File type: jpg/jpeg 

Dimensions: 

• 240 x 240 pixels in 200 DPI (Preferred for required quality), i.e., 3 cm * 3 cm (Width * Height) 
• File Size: 20 KB – 50 KB 

Hand-written declaration: 

• The handwritten declaration “I________(Name of the candidate), _______(Date of Birth) hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required. The signature, photograph, and left-hand thumb impression is of mine” should not be written in CAPITAL LETTERS. 
• You must write the declaration in English on white paper with black or blue ink. 
• The handwritten declaration should be in your handwriting. 
• File type: jpg/jpeg 
• Dimensions: 800 x 400 pixels in 200 DPI (Preferred for required quality), i.e., 10 cm * 5 cm (Width * Height) 
• File Size: 50 KB – 100 KB 
• Verify all details carefully, as any mistakes in the SBI Clerk application can not be rectified once the application is submitted. 
• Pay the requisite application fee by using a debit card/credit card/Internet Banking. Payment of fees will be done through Online mode only. 
• Take out the receipt of the application fee and print the application form for future use. 

What is the SBI Clerk Application Fee?

The SBI Clerk application fee must be paid online through a debit card, credit card, or Internet Banking. Any transaction charges applicable to the online payment will have to be borne by the candidate.

Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, PwBD, XS, and DXS categories are exempt from paying the application fee, while candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories must pay ₹750. The application fee/intimation charges are non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or selection process.

After successful completion of the payment, an e-receipt and application form with fee details will be generated. Candidates are advised to retain or print these documents for future reference. If the online transaction is unsuccessful, candidates must register again and complete the payment process online. The e-receipt and application form can also be reprinted later, if required

What is the SBI Clerk Admit Card ?

The SBI Clerk call letter for the Preliminary and Main examinations will be available online approximately 10 days before the respective examination. Candidates can download their call letters from the official SBI website using their Registration Number and Password/Date of Birth. The “Acquaint Yourself” booklet will also be made available online along with the call letter.

No hard copy of the SBI Clerk call letter or the “Acquaint Yourself” booklet will be sent by post. Candidates appearing for the Preliminary Examination must carry the required call letter to the examination centre.

Those shortlisted for the Main Examination must bring their authenticated Preliminary Exam call letter, along with the authenticated copy of the ID proof and the Main Exam call letter.

Candidates must also carry two additional photographs identical to the photograph pasted on the call letter, along with the required documents. Candidates reporting without the photograph pasted on the call letter or without the two additional photographs will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

Candidates must carry an original photo identity proof, such as a Passport, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter’s Card, Bank Passbook with photograph, or an Identity Card issued by a School/College or Gazetted Officer, along with a self-attested photocopy. Failure to produce the required identity proof and photocopy may result in the candidate being denied entry to the examination.

Candidates are also advised to keep their registered email ID and mobile number active throughout the recruitment process to receive important updates regarding the SBI Clerk admit card and other examination-related notifications.

What is SBI Clerk Pre-Exam Training ?

SBI promotes inclusivity by providing Pre-Examination Training (PET) online for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen, and PwBD categories.

Eligible candidates who wish to avail themselves of this facility must select the relevant option while filling out the SBI Clerk online application form.

Those opting for the training can access it through the Bank's website by entering their registration number and date of birth. Details regarding the Pre-Examination Training schedule will be communicated to candidates through their registered email ID and SMS. No hard copy of the training schedule or intimation will be sent to candidates.
