    Question

In the question below consists of three statements

followed by five conclusions. Assume the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements.  Statements: I. Some plates are cups. II. No cup is a spoons. III. All spoons are bowls.  Conclusions:
A Some plates are not cups Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B All cups being spoons is a possibility. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Some bowls are not spoons Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Some cups being bowl is a possibility. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E All spoons being cups is a possibility. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Some plates are cups (I) → I.I. → No conclusion. Hence conclusion I does not follow. No cup is a spoons (E) → Probable conclusion → No conclusion. Hence neither conclusion II nor V follow. All spoons are bowls (A) → Conversion → Some bowls are spoons (I). Hence conclusion III does not follow. No cup is a spoons (E) + All spoons are bowls (A) → Some bowls are not cups (O*) → Probable conclusion → Some cups may be bowls (I). Hence conclusion IV follows.
