    In the questions given below there are three statements followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the three given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions definitely follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

    Statements: Only a few Caramel are Chocolate.

    No Chocolate is Jelly. All Jelly are Sugar. Conclusions: I. All Caramel are Sugar. II. Some Sugar are Jelly. III. All Chocolate Sugar.

    Solution

    Only a few Caramel are Chocolate (I) + No Chocolate is Jelly (E) → Some Caramel are not Jelly (O) +  All Jelly are Sugar (A) → No conclusion. Hence conclusion I does not follow. All Jelly are Sugar (A) → Conversion → Some Sugar are Jelly (I). Hence conclusion II follows. No Chocolate is Jelly (E) + All Jelly are Sugar (A) → Some Sugar are not Chocolate (O*). Hence conclusion III does not follow.
