Question

In each question three statements followed by three conclusions numbered I, II and III have been given. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

Statements:

Some pulses are grams.

No pulse is a bean.

All grams are wheat.

Conclusions:

I. All wheat being pulses is a possibility.

II. At least some beans are not pulses.

III. Some grams are not beans.

A Only I follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Only II and III follow Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C All I, II and III follow Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Only I and III follow Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

Solution

Some pulses are grams (I) + All grams are wheat (A) ⇒ Some pulses are wheat (I) ⇒ Conversion ⇒ Some wheat are pulses(I) ⇒ Probable conclusion ⇒ All wheat may be pulses(A). Hence conclusion I follows. No pulses is a bean(E) ⇒ Conversion ⇒ Some beans are not pulses(O). Hence conclusion II follows. Some pulses are grams (I) ⇒ Conversion ⇒ Some grams are pulses (I) + No pulses is a bean (E) ⇒ Some grams are not beans (O). Hence conclusion III follows.
