Question
Statement: We should work hard for success in
examination. Assumptions: I. It is desirable to be successful in the examination. II. The fruit of success is tasted by those pupils who work hard. In the question below a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II has been given. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You are required to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.Solution
The statement says that we “ should ” work hard for success. If it is obligatory for us to work hard for success, then it must be implicit that success in an examination be desirable. The second assumption states the pupils who work hard taste the fruit of success. This assumption is also clearly implicit because if there were no reward for working hard in the form of success, then there would be no incentive to work hard. Thus it is evident that both assumptions I and II are implicit.
