Question
If Shishpal is related to Sonal, Swati is related to
Pushpendra in a certain way. So in the same way Sandeep is related to who of the following? Study the following information and answer the given questions: There are eight friends Sonal, Tiger, Himani, Pushpendra, Rajiv, Swati, Sandeep and Shishpal. They all have a different number of coins i.e. 11,12,13,14,15,16,17 and 18. They all are sitting around a circular table facing towards the centre of the table. (i) The one who has 15 coins and Pushpendra are not near to Tiger and Shishpal. There is only one person between Himani and the one who has 16coins. (ii) The one who has 18 coins is third to the left of the one who has 13 coins. (iii) The person who has least number of coins is sitting exactly between the one who has 13 coins and Swati. Rajiv is third to the right of Shishpal, who is seated opposite to Sonal. (iv) There is only one person between the one who has 17 coins and the one who has 12coins. The one who has 15 coins is not Sonal, Pushpendra is opposite to the one who is near to Shishpal. (v) The one who has 16 coins is opposite to Pushpendra, who does not have 12 coins. Tiger has 14 coins and is not near to Shishpal.Solution
By iii and iv Rajiv is third to the right of Shishpal, who is seated opposite to Sonal. The one who has 15 coins is not Sonal, Pushpendra is opposite to the one who is near to Shishpal. By v The one who has 16 coins is opposite to Pushpendra, who does not have 12 coins. Tiger has 14 coins and is not near to Shishpal. So Tiger can be near to Pushpendra and Rajiv but by (i) Pushpendra is not near to Tiger. So Tiger will be immediate left of Rajiv. By (i) There is only one person between Himani and the one who has 16coins. By (i) The one who has 15 coins and Pushpendra are not near to Tiger and Shishpal. So Himani and Rajiv do not have 15 coins. Here we get two places for Swati and Sandeep so we get two following conditions: 1st condition- By (ii) and (iii) The one who has 18 coins is third to the left of the one who has 13 coins. The person who has least number of coins is sitting exactly between the one who has 13 coins and Swati. So if Sonal has 13 coins then Sandeep will have 18 coins which is not possible. So if Shishpal has 13 coins and Himani has 11 coin then Pushpendra will have 18 coins. Â By (iv) There is only one person between the one who has 17 coins and the one who has 12coins. If either Sonal or Swati has 17 or 12 coins then Rajiv will have 15 coins but by (i) the one who has 15 coins is not near to Tiger. So this condition is not possible. 2nd condition- By (ii) and (iii) if Rajiv has 11 coin then Pushpendra will have 13 coins and Tiger will have 18 coins which is not possible. If Himani has 11 coin then Pushpendra will have 13 coins so Tiger should get 18 coins which is not possible. If Shishpal has 11 coin and Himani has 13 coins then Sonal will have 18 coins. Â By (iv) and (v) There is only one person between the one who has 17 coins and the one who has 12 coins and Pushpendra does not have 12 coins so Rajiv has 12 coins and Pushpendra has 17 coins so Sandeep will have 15 coins.
