Let the present ages of Meena and Riya be ‘7x + 12’ years and ‘11x + 12’ years, respectively.
ATQ:
11x + 12 = 1.4 × (7x + 12)
⇒ 11x + 12 = 9.8x + 16.8
⇒ 1.2x = 4.8
⇒ x = 4
Required sum = (7 × 4 + 12) + (11 × 4 + 12) = 40 + 56 = 96 years
