Question
How many students appear for RBI
exam? Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions: A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are students appearing for different examination- RBI, SBI and IBPS at 3 different examination centres namely LPU, IIT and IIMT. Each centre conduct only one exam in a day and not more than 3 students participate in a single exam. Each of them has a exam at a different slot on 26th January 2018- 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm, 7:00pm and 8:00pm but not necessarily in the same order. C does not have exam in IIT. Both A and F have their exams in IIMT and they are appearing for either SBI or IBPS. A’s exam is scheduled neither at 3:00pm nor at 7:00pm. C’s exam is scheduled at 2:00pm. H does not have same centre as that of A and D and his exam is scheduled at 5:00pm. D’s exam is scheduled neither at 4:00pm nor at 6:00pm. Both the students having exam slots at 4:00pm and 6:00pm have a common examination centre. B does not have exam at 4:00pm. Only 2 students are appearing for IBPS. The one whose exam is scheduled at 1:00pm has exam in LPU along with C. D has a exam in IIMT along with the student whose exam is scheduled at 3:00pm. Both G and C are appearing for IBPS.Solution
Both A and F are appearing for either SBI/IBPS in IIMT but only 2 students appear for IBPS and it is also given that both G and C appears for IBPS. So, it is clear that IIMT centre will conduct SBI exam on 26th January 2018. C does not have in IIT and it is also given that C appears for IBPS exam. So, only possibility is that C appears in LPU for IBPS exam along with G as a centre conduct a single exam on a particular day. H, B and E must appear in IIT and they appear for RBI exam. If we combine the above statements, we can conclude The one who appears for exam with C in LPU has exam scheduled at 1:00pm. Therefore, G appears for exam at 1:00pm. D has a exam in IIMT along with the student who has a exam at 3:00pm. D appears for exam in IIMT along with A and F but, A’s exam is scheduled neither at 3:00pm nor at 7:00pm. So, F will appear for exam at 3:00pm. The students appearing for exam at 4:00pm and 6:00pm have a common exam centre. So, only possibility is B and E appears at either 4:00pm or 6:00pm. But, B does not appear for exam at 4:00pm. So, B appears for exam at 6:00pm and E appears for it at 4:00pm. On combining the above statements, we can conclude that:
