Question
The sum of the present age of 'T' and 'O' is 60 years. The
ratio of the age of 'T' and 'O' before 10 years is 3:5 respectively. Find the age of 'O' after 10 years.Solution
Let the age of 'T' and 'O' before 10 years be 3x years and 5x years.
So, the present age of 'T' = (3x + 10) years
So, the present age of 'O' = (5x + 10) years
So, 3x + 10 + 5x + 10 = 60
Or, 8x = 60 - 20 = 40
So, 'x' = 5
So, present age of 'O' = 5x + 10 = 25 + 10 = 35 years
Therefore, required age = (5 X 5 + 10 + 10) = 45 years
