place X from place Y and at the same time another truck leaves place Y to X. Both the men meet 9 hours after they start moving. If the truck starts from station X is 14 km/hr faster than the other one, then find the ratio between the speeds of both the men?Solution
Let the speed of the first truck be x and that of the second truck be y, Then, x – y = 14 —> (i) Time = Distance/Speed 9 = 450/ (x + y) x + y = 450/9 x + y = 50 —-> (ii) By solving the equation (i) and (ii), we get, 2x= 64 X = 32 km/hr, y = 18 km/hr Required ratio = 32: 18 = 16: 9
