Train 'M' is 360 meters long and it crosses a pole in

18 seconds and it also passes Train 'N', which is moving in the opposite direction, in 12 seconds. If Train 'N' is 2 times as long as Train 'M', then find the distance travelled by Train N in 25 minutes.
A 90 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 96 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 100 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 105 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 110 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Speed of Train 'M' = 360 ÷ 18 = 20 m/s Length of Train 'N' = 2 × 360 = 720 meters Combined length of Train 'M' and 'N' = 360 + 720 = 1080 meters Relative speed of train 'M' w.r.t train 'N' when travelling towards each other = 1080 ÷ 12 = 90 m/s So, speed of Train 'N' = 90 - 20 = 70 m/s Therefore, distance covered by Train N in 25 minutes = 70 × 25 × 60 = 105,000 meters = 105 km
