    Question

    A train moving at a speed of ‘x’ km/h crosses a

signal post in 22 seconds and then passes a 300 metre long bridge in 40 seconds. Calculate the total distance it would cover in 10 hours.
A 600 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 210 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 500 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 255 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Let speed of train = y m/s So, length of train = 22 × y = 22y metres According to question: (22y + 300) = 40y Or, 18y = 300 Or, y = 16.67 m/s So, x = 16.67 × 18/5 = 60 km/h Desired distance = 60 × 10 = 600 km
