    Train M, ‘x’ metres long crosses (x – 30) metres

    long platform in 20 seconds while train N having the length (x + 30) metres crosses the same platform in 23 seconds. If the speeds of both trains are same then find the value of ‘x’.

    Solution

    Total distance travelled by train M = (2x – 30) m Total distance travelled by train N = (x + 30 + x – 30) = 2x m According to question, => (2x – 30)/20 = 2x/23 => 46x – 690 = 40x => 6x = 690 => x = 115 m
