Question
Karan is capable of doing 50% of a job in 25 days, while
Meera does 25% of it in 20 days. Karan works for 20 days and then leaves. How many days will Meera take to complete the remaining task?Solution
ATQ,
Karan’s full-time = 25 / 0.50 = 50 days
Meera’s full-time = 20 / 0.25 = 80 days
Total work = LCM(50, 80) = 400 units
Karan’s efficiency = 400 / 50 = 8 units/day
Meera’s efficiency = 400 / 80 = 5 units/day
Work done by Karan = 20 × 8 = 160 units
Remaining work = 400 - 160 = 240 units
Time by Meera = 240 / 5 = 48 days
