Question
C and D together can complete a work in 36 days. If C
alone can do it in 60 days, how many days will D take to complete the work alone?Solution
Let the total work be 180 units. {LCM (36 and 60)}
So, combined efficiency of 'C' and 'D' = 180 ÷ 36 = 5 units/day
Efficiency of 'C' = 180 ÷ 60 = 3 units/day
So, efficiency of 'D' = 5 - 3 = 2 units/day
So, time taken by 'D' to do the work alone = 180 ÷ 2 = 90 days
