Question

A buffalo alone can plough field ‘A’ in 30 days. A

Bull alone can plough the field ‘A’ in 50 days. Find the number of days taken by 2 bulls and 1 buffalo to together plough field ‘B’ that is 10% larger than field ‘A’?
A 15 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 10 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 12 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 16 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the total work done to plough field ‘A’ = 150 units (LCM of 30 and 50) Then, efficiency of a buffalo = (150/30) = 5 units/day Efficiency of a bull = (150/50) = 3 units/day Total work required to plough field ‘B’ = 150 × 1.1 = 165 units Combined efficiency of 2 bulls and a buffalo = 3 × 2 + 5 = 11 units So, number of days required to plough field ‘B’ = 165/11 = 15 days
