Let the distance between point ‘P’ and point ‘Q’ be ‘d’ km Let the correct time to travel be ‘t’ hours According to the question, (d/48) = t + (50/60) = t + 0.833 And, (d/72) = t - (40/60) = t - 0.667 Or, (d/48) - (d/72) = 0.833 + 0.667 = 1.5 Or, (3d - 2d) ÷ 144 = 1.5 Or, d = 1.5 × 144 = 216 Therefore, distance between point ‘P’ and point ‘Q’ is 216 km.
