Question
A train departs station 'Z' at 5:15 AM traveling at 90 km/h. Another faster train leaves the same station at 7:00 AM traveling at 120 km/h. At what time will the second train overtake the first?
Solution
ATQ,
Distance between the two trains when second train starts = 90 Γ 1.75 = 157.5 km
Relative speed = 120 β 90 = 30 km/h
Time taken to overtake = 157.5 / 30 = 5.25 hours = 5 hours and 15 minutes
βRequired time = 7:00 AM + 5 hours 15 minutes = 12:15 PM
