Question

A car moving at a speed of 60 km/hr increases its speed by

10 km/hr after ‘x’ hours. Then, it travels for (x + 5) hours at the new speed. If the car covers 455 km in these (x + 5) hours, find the distance it travelled in the first ‘x’ hours.
A 90 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 36 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 28 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 75 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    70 × (x + 5) = 455

    Or, x + 5 = 6.5

    Or, x = 1.5

    Therefore, required distance travelled = 60 × 1.5 = 90 km
