      Solution

      Let the speed of the faster train = x kmph ∴ Relative speed of the trains = (x - 54) kmph ⇒ (x - 54) × (5/18) m/sec. Distance = 160 + 140 = 300 m and time = 12 sec ∴ (x - 54)(5/18) = 300/12 ⇒ x- 54 = (300 × 18)/(5 × 12) = 90 ∴ x = 90 + 54 = 144 kmph.
