Question
The interest obtained on Rs. (2p + 600) at 18% p.a. for 5 years (simple interest) is Rs. (p + 840). Find the ratio (p - 75) :(p + 25)
Solution
ATQ, Simple interest = Principal Γ Rate Γ Time Γ· 100 So, p + 840 = (2p + 600) Γ 18 Γ 5 Γ· 100 Or, p + 840 = 1.8p + 540 Or, 0.8p = 300 Or, p = 375 Required ratio = (p - 75) :(p + 25) = (375 - 75) :(375 + 25) = 300:400 = 3:4
