Question
A person invests Rs. 800 for 2 years at a simple interest
rate of ‘x%’ per annum, Rs. 450 for 4 years at a simple interest rate of (x – 2)% per annum, and Rs. 1,200 for 5 years at a simple interest rate of 5% per annum. If the total interest earned from all investments is Rs. 604, what is the value of ‘x’?Solution
ATQ;
{(800 × 2 × x)/100} + [{450 × 4 × (x – 2)}/100] + {(1200 × 5 × 5)/100} = 604
Or, (16x + 18x – 36 + 300) = 604
Or, 34x = 340
So, x = 10
