Question
A box has ₹2, ₹1 and 25 paise coins in the ratio 3:5:7.
If the total value is ₹446.25, how many 25-paise coins are there?Solution
ATQ,
Let the number of ₹2, ₹1 and 25p coins be 3x, 5x and 7x respectively.
ATQ:
(3x × 2) + (5x × 1) + (7x × 0.25) = 446.25
Or, 6x + 5x + 1.75x = 446.25
Or, 12.75x = 446.25
Or, 12.75x = 446.25 → x = 35
So, number of 25-paise coins = 7x = 7 × 35 = 245
