Question
Two numbers are in the ratio of 6:13. If three is added
to both numbers, the ratio becomes 1:2. Find the smaller number.Solution
Let the numbers be 6a and 13a respectively.
According to the question-
(6a + 3)/(13a + 3) = 1/2
12a + 6 = 13a + 3
a = 3
Hence, smaller number = 6*3 = 18
