Question
A 348 ml mixture of honey and water has a ratio of
17:12. It is combined with a 152 ml mixture where the ratio of honey to water is 12:7. What is the ratio of honey to water in the final mixture?Solution
ATQ,
Quantity of honey in 348 ml of mixture = (17/29) × 348 = 204 ml
Quantity of water in 348 ml of mixture = 348 – 204 = 144 ml
Quantity of honey in 152 ml of mixture = (12/19) × 152 = 96 ml
Quantity of water in 152 ml of mixture = 152 – 96 = 56 ml
Desired ratio = (204 + 96):(144 + 56) = 300:200 = 3:2
