Question
The current age ratio of Aman to
Bheem is 5:6. What is Aman's current age? Statement I: Bheem's age 18 years from now will be 20% greater than Aman's age 15 years from now. Statement II: The sum of the ages of Aman and Bheem 5 years from now will be 10 years more than 220% of Aman's current age. The question consists of two statements numbered "l and II" given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question.Solution
ATQ, Let present ages of 'Aman' and 'Bheem' be '5x' years and '6x' years, respectively. Statement I: According to statement: 1.20 X (5x + 15) = 6x + 18 Or, 6x + 18 = 6x + 18 Since, we cannot find the value of 'x'. So, we cannot find the present age of 'Aman'. So, data given in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question. Statement II: According to statement; (5x + 5) + (6x + 5) = 2.2 X 5x + 10 Or, 11x + 10 = 11x + 10 Since, we cannot find the value of 'x'. So, we cannot find the present age of 'Aman'. So, data given in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question. Combining statements I and II, we get; We cannot find the present age of 'Aman'. Therefore, the data given in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
