Question
Rahul sold an article to Aakash with a 25% profit. Aakash
then sold it to Amit, earning the same absolute profit (in Rs.) that Rahul made. Finally, Amit sold the article to Pranav at a 40% profit. By what percentage is the cost price of the article for Pranav greater than the cost price for Rahul?Solution
ATQ;
Let the cost price of the article for Rahul be Rs. '100x'.
So, cost price of the article for Aakash = 100x X 1.25 = Rs. '125x'.
Profit made by Rahul = 125x - 100x = Rs. 25x.
Cost price of the article for Amit = 125x + 25x = Rs. 150x.
So, cost price of the article for Pranav = 150x X 1.4 = Rs. 210x.
So, required % = {(210x - 100x)/100x} X 100 = 110%.
