    (x - √2)(x - √4) = x2 — x(√2 + 2) + 2√2  For value to be minimum, => d(x2 — x(√2 + 2) + 2√2 )/dx = 0 at x = a ⇒ 2x — √2 — 2 = 0 => x = a So, 2a —√2 = 2 ∴ 2a —√2 = 2
