and 2 hours respectively. 'A' is opened alone. After 24 minutes, 'A' is closed and 'B' is opened. Find the time taken by 'B' to fill the remaining tank.Solution
Let the total capacity of tank be 360 litres (LCM of 90 and 120) Efficiency of 'A' = (360/90) = 4 litres/minute Efficiency of 'B' = (360/120) = 3 litres/minute Tank filled by 'A' = 4 × 24 = 96 litres Remaining part of the tank = 360 − 96 = 264 litres Required time = (264/3) = 88 minutes
